What does IPL hair removal consist of?

A home laser epilator, like an in-office epilation device, emits laser radiation of a specific wavelength. As the light beam reaches the skin, it is absorbed by the pigment.

The hair follicles, but only those in the growth phase, are destroyed. It takes several or a dozen treatments to get rid of hair forever. Why? Laser hair removal is effective when the hair is in the active growth phase. During a single treatment, some follicles are destroyed, while others may shrink to the size of so-called virgin hair (light, small hairs) or enter a prolonged dormant state.

If the hair grows back, the treatment is repeated. This usually occurs about 2-4 weeks after the treatment. Subsequent treatments should be scheduled at regular intervals to remove hair coming out of the dormant phase and entering the active growth phase. Home laser treatment is not suitable for Afro-Caribbean type dark skin. Laser hair removal is not effective for white hair and gray hair.
